Recently the trend of personalising IKEA products has caught the attention of many furnuture designers. IKEA is a fantastic shop for reasonably priced furniture that makes it an appealing resource for people trying to create a personalised home by repurposing affordable products.
While it can be very hard to find exactly what you are looking for –whether it is shelving for a tiny room or a bed that does not look like it comes from a retail store – there is help coming your way. Namely, IKEA Hackers! The site started in 2006 and displays all kinds of alterations, repurposes and modifications of IKEA products. Users are able to post their own redesigns of their favourite IKEA products, the so-called “hacks”.
