The billionaire property brothers have made their first public appearance since they got arrested last Thursday. They have been accused of being involved in a high-profile bribery case in Hong Kong’s most famous and leading property company called Sun Hung Kai.
Thomas and Raymond Kwok, co-chairmen of Sun Hung Kai, are currently involved in an intensive investigation in one of the world’s hottest bribery cases. A press conference was being held in front of the Sun Hung Kai Properties Headquarters, where Raymond Kwok said that he hadn’t done anything wrong and he was confident to say that his brother Thomas is also innocent. He went further saying that he hopes that both his and his brother’s name will be cleared after the investigation. In the last few days, there been said a lot of things about the company and its management, unfortunately nothing that I can go into now. All I can say is that nobody has to worry, here at Sun Hung Kai Property; it’s all about business, said Thomas Kwok.
Since the arrest, the SHKP’s share went down with 13.4 per cent. Due to Sylvia Wong, the situation is now in balance as most of the investors are staying still. They don’t know what the exact happened, so most of them will wait undertaking steps until the results of ICAC’s investigation clarify the current situation.
Despite the enormous shock, the boarder has voted unanimously that the tycoon brothers are keeping their jobs. Last Friday, after being released on bail, they returned straight to the office.
